Photo Blog: What Makes Irish Sunsets and Sunrises So Special

Relaxing under Irish sunsets and sunrises, you might just catch a glimpse into the world of fairies, folklore and magic.

In the world of photography, the hour surrounding sunsets and sunrises is nicknamed the Golden Hour due to the beautiful golden hues cast over the landscape created by the sun’s rays. The moment when the sun is low in the sky – whether setting or rising – is one of the most beautiful moments in the day.

But in Ireland, a country where the sun only makes casual appearances, Irish sunsets and sunrises seem extra magnificent. Catch the sun dipping over the horizon of the vast Atlantic Ocean, peeping out from behind crumbling ruins, or hanging low over quiet beaches.

Sunset and sunrise photography is all about patience – as well as a bit of luck. Sunrise is perhaps the most magical moment of the day, but you must be willing to wake up and head out early. Sunsets are a little more accessible, but the end of a long day can be hectic and tiring – setting side the time to watch the sunset usually isn’t a priority!

Sunsets and sunrises are constantly changing, so stake out a good spot or two, get your camera out and be ready to start snapping!

Beautiful, Dramatic and Spectacular Irish Sunsets

Ireland’s beautiful landscapes combined with its dramatic and ever-changing weather makes for some incredible sunsets and sunrises! Ireland is especially incredible during the summer solstice, when the sun doesn’t set until after 10 pm. Because of the short days during winter, it’s easy to admire the sunrises which can be as late as 7h30!
