Come next year, we are delighted to welcome you once more to Ireland’s remote and far-flung regions, be that in the Wicklow Mountains, the Glens of Antrim, a west coast island, or at the top of Carrautoohil. Travel across majestic mountain ranges, along pristine beaches, hop to tiny islands and more.

    Our self guided plus+ cycling trips and our self guided walking trips were designed last year and upgraded and improved for the 2022 season.

    Self Guided vs Self Guided plus+

    Due to the changing demands after reopening in mid-2021, we have introduced a new product range, self guided and self guided plus+ cycling tours. Cycle at your own pace on this collection of tours on Ireland’s west coast.

    Self guided plus+ are fully supported, meaning that while there is no guide on the road cycling with you, you will have the benefit of a soigneur who can offer van support, while self guided does not offer van support. Regardless of whether you choose self guided plus+ or fully self guided, we’ll take care of the logistics including luggage transfers, bookings, recommendations and bike maintenance.

    Self Guided Cycling - The Wilds of Sligo

    Irish poet W.B. Yeats once called Sligo the “Land of Hearts Desire.” As the Wilderness Ireland office is based in Sligo, you’ll be biking along some of our favourite routes. In Sligo, cycle under the shadow of the iconic mountains of Knocknarea and Ben Bulben, dip your toes in at any number of quiet beaches, pedal through glens and past waterfalls, find castles and Neolithic tombs and drop into quaint pubs for a pint and a chat with a local. With a burgeoning foodie culture, you’ll feast on fresh seafood, hearty dishes and farm-to-fork cuisine.

    On this self guided trip along Sligo’s quiet lanes, leave all the details to us and instead focus on pedalling at your own pace, with the chance to stop and enjoy the views whenever you want.

    The Wild Atlantic Way holds an irresistible allure for cyclists. Pedalling up to 80km a day, absorb Ireland’s ever-changing scenery with options for additional daily mileage. On this cycling journey along the rugged coasts and jutting peninsulas of Cork, Kerry and Clare, enjoy a shorten version of our epic Wild Atlantic Way tour through Southwest Ireland. Traverse wild mountain passes, pedal past incredible cliff-tops, and challenge yourself on iconic Irish cycling routes. On this self-guided+ trip, you’ll have the services of a soigneur to arrange luggage transfers, provide roadside assistance and care for your bike each evening.

    Self Guided plus+ Cycling – Connemara & the Burren

    Two of the wildest and iconic regions of Ireland are the Burren and Connemara. Exotic and desolate, the Burren is a place of exposed limestone hills, brilliantly exploding with vibrant colour each spring with the arrival of its famed wildflowers. Connemara is a remote, rural place made up of mountains and bogs where tiny country lanes weave amongst rugged heather-cloaked peaks and quaint villages. And of course, there is the Cliffs of Moher, Ireland’s most beloved cliffs, all combining to make an iconic tour of Ireland’s mighty west.

    This is a self guided+ supported cycling tour, with a soigneur to transport you to the start/end of your day’s bike ride, deliver luggage daily and a mechanic on call, meaning you can enjoy linear routes, more flexibility, and ride at your own pace.

    Self Guided - Walking The Dingle Way

    The Dingle Peninsula is a distilled expression of the best of Ireland. Breathtaking scenery scattered with ancient archaeological sites awaits, combined with award-winning local foods, cosy traditional music-filled pubs, and of course populated by colourful Irish characters. The internationally-renowned Dingle Way hiking trail circumnavigates this unique corner of the world. The route takes in quiet country lanes, mountain tracks and miles of sandy beach as it winds its way around Slea Head, Ireland’s most westerly point. As a self guided hiking trip, you’ll have the chance to walk at your own pace as well as the freedom to stop at any of the sites along the way that captures your interest.

    It’s hard to believe that just a few miles from Dublin’s bustling city centre is one of Ireland’s most beautiful national parks and most famous long distance trails. Ireland’s premier Long Distance Trail the Wicklow Way tracks through glorious mountain valleys, lush forests and across heathery uplands as well as ancient monastic sites, crystal-clear lakes and historic estates. On this self guided trip, trek through the Wicklow Way’s most spectacular sections in the heart of the Wicklow Mountains National Park before descending into green valleys and farmland.

    Focus on the trail and its fantastic views with transport and luggage transfers all prearranged. Enjoy the flexibility of walking at your own pace, starting as early or late as you prefer, stopping as often as you’d like to drink in the views, or challenging yourself with additional walks.
