Pre-Trip Service
I got speedy, friendly responses to all my questions. Very helpful
Trip Comments
I absolutely loved the trip. The guides were so friendly, helpful, good humoured, concerned for our safety, and knowledgeable. John told us about peat one day in detail including how he had to help gather it. Then a few minutes later as we were heading back to the van he suddenly ran into a field and brought back a lump for us to touch. I had no idea it would be like a piece of wood. I asked if I could have it. So now I have a lump of peat that is travelling back to Canada destined for my son’s fireplace.
Accommodation & Food
All the accommodation was entirely adequate though occasionally there were small things that did not work well eg the shower at our first hotel barely functioned. The last hotel - Rathmullan? - was just lovely. I has a patio outside my bedroom with blooming roses and the service in the dining room was very gracious and helpful. Overall I was fine with everything. All the hotels were clean and comfortable. I enjoyed the settings of all of them - a village, overlooking a beach, and the final beautiful one that had both woods and beach and gardens.
As for food I learned how much better porridge is with honey rather than the brown sugar we normally use in Canada.
Your Guide
Beyond perfect. Our guides John and Ruoari made the trip. On my two previous bike trips (different company) the guides did not cycle with us. This was so much better. I liked the fact that the group was together. One of them was always at a crossroads so we could not get lost. They shared the experience. They were also helpful setting up the Garmens or dealing with any bike questions. We also had lots of laughs. I am interested in language and history and they were well able to answer questions. Many thanks to our superb two guides.
