      Trip Overview

      Created by: Cathriona O'Donnell

From shimmering lakes and crumbling castles to rebellions, revolutions, wild shores, and abandoned islands — discover the Kingdom of Kerry with us. Join a small group tour exploring the rich culture and heritage of Ireland’s southwest. Travelling through over 5,000 years of history, Kerry is the perfect setting to immerse yourself in a cultural journey, from Neolithic wonders and medieval towers to 17th-century mass rocks, the Industrial Revolution, and the turbulent events of the 19th and 20th centuries.

Set against a backdrop of rugged mountains and swirling seas from the iconic Killarney and Ring of Kerry to the soft contours of the Dingle Peninsula, meet the local artisans and craftspeople who call this untamed region home. Set sail to circle the Skelligs, enjoying views of the rocky outcrops home to gannets and puffins, and later, feel the wind on your face during a boat trip to land on the eerie abandoned Blasket Islands. Explore Kerry’s heritage through the eyes of expert local guides and welcoming residents. With gentle walks and plenty of time to pause, reflect, and explore, this is a journey for those who value cultural richness, beautiful landscapes, and authentic encounters — all at a comfortable pace.

Day 1 – Lakes and Castles of Killarney Read Less

      Day 1

      Lakes and Castles of Killarney

From the bustling town of Killarney, join your guide on a cultural journey into Killarney National Park, Ireland’s first such park. Established when Muckross Estate was donated to the Irish government, start your journey at the majestic Muckross House, renowned for its old world charm, stunning setting, and vivid gardens. Set against the sparkling lakes and rugged mountains, stroll its ornate gardens that burst with seasonal colour. Continuing your journey into the past, explore the 15th-century stronghold of Ross Castle, perched along the lakeshore. A scenic boat ride through the tranquil Lakes of Killarney offers a spectacular perspective of this storied land – a true treat, and the perfect start to your trip in the Kingdom of Kerry. End your day travelling over mountain passes to the gourmet haven of Kenmare, where great food and warm welcomes await.

      Day 2

      Folklore, Copper & Coasts

Rugged and wild, venture into the untamed beauty of the Beara Peninsula, a place where stories cling to the hills and linger on the sea breeze. Along the way, discover the myths and legends that shape this ancient landscape — from Bronze Age remnants to tales of the Chailleach Bhéarra (the hag of Beara), a powerful figure in Irish folklore said to usher in the winter season. In the colourful village of Allihies, meet a local storyteller who weaves folklore and history together, bringing to life the area’s astonishing copper mining heritage. Afterwards, breathe in the salty air on a peaceful coastal stroll before returning to the elegant charm of Kenmare — a town known for its warm welcome, artistic spirit, and delicious gourmet offerings.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 3 – Skellig Boat Tour Read Less

      Day 3

      Skellig Boat Tour

This morning, take to the Atlantic with a local skipper for an unforgettable boat tour around the dramatic Skellig Islands.* Rising like stone cathedrals from the sea, these towering pinnacles are home to a spectacular array of seabirds — from gannets and razorbills to adorable puffins during breeding season. With waves lapping at the hull and sea air on your face, feel the full force of their isolation and wild beauty. Back on shore, travel to Derrynane House to discover the story of Daniel O’Connell, a visionary leader known as “Ireland’s Liberator.” A short coastal walk brings you to a hidden Mass Rock — a moving reminder of Ireland’s enduring spirit and quiet resistance to preserving its culture in the face of adversity.

*Please note that tours departing before mid-May and after early September may not be able to land on the Skellig Islands. Instead, enjoy sailing around both islands, including the gannet colony on Little Skellig. Get in touch to learn more.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 4 – The Dingle Peninsula Read Less

      Day 4

      The Dingle Peninsula

Rich in heritage and wild beauty, the Dingle Peninsula is where Irish culture meets the Atlantic. Begin your day at a hilltop farm, where a local farmer shares the rhythms of rural life alongside clever sheepdogs and curious sheep. Hear stories of the land, including a visit to a nearby holy well once believed to cure madness — part of Ireland’s deep-rooted tradition of folk cures and healing places. Continue to Annascaul, a charming village with neat rows of brightly painted houses and winding backstreets to explore. End the day in Dingle town, a vibrant place of life, music, and character. This evening, wander the colourful streets or settle in for a pint and a tune—your first taste of Dingle’s legendary hospitality.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 5 – The Blasket Islands Read Less

      Day 5

      The Blasket Islands

From the edge of the Dingle Peninsula, set sail to the windswept Great Blasket Island, once home to a small, resilient community famed for their oral storytelling and literary legacy. Uninhabited since the 1950s, the island’s abandoned cottages and wildflower-strewn slopes tell a gripping tale of island life shaped by the sea at the edge of the world. Wander the narrow paths in the company of a local guide, and hear the stories of islanders like Peig Sayers and Maurice O’Sullivan, whose words preserve a lost way of life. Keep an eye out for the Blasket Islands’ current residents – seabirds, seals, and perhaps dolphins. Wrap up your day with a night at a cosy Dingle pub to experience some real ‘craic agus ceoil’ with the locals.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 6 – History & Heritage of Slea Head Read Less

      Day 6

History & Heritage of Slea Head

Few places in Ireland are more beautiful than Slea Head, Ireland’s westernmost point. Today, we’ll delve into Ireland’s ancient past, following winding roads through landscapes dotted with ancient wonders. Among the windswept headlands, discover Dingle’s rich ancient heritage, including age-old beehive huts, Neolithic tombs, and serene stone monuments—each place a testament to the lives and beliefs of Ireland’s earliest people. In the afternoon, swap history for heritage through the eyes of Kerry’s craftspeople. Meet a charismatic woodworker whose stunning creations match his fascinating backstory. With the sweet scent of sawdust in the air, join him in his woodworking studio, where you’ll learn about the long-loved art of woodworking.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
