Why You Should Hike in Ireland in July 2020

Discover Ireland in Summer on one of our July Hiking Tours. See Below for a List of Departing Hiking Adventures

July is possibly Ireland’s best summer month – temperatures are a bit warmer, the sun is often out, and the rain is holding back. Don’t expect heat waves though; Ireland in July can be both hot and cool. But the weather is lovely for exploring and a great time to hike in Ireland in July.

For those of you hoping to escape the heat back home, Ireland is an oasis of temperate days – perfect for a summertime hike. Despite putting in a few dozen miles on your sturdy hiking boots, you’re unlikely to need to worry about overheating! This month is also perfect for summertime picnics, an afternoon on the beach, or a midsummer’s evening on a terrace with a cold pint in hand.

As this is peak season, do expect some crowds, but note that the crowds usually form around ‘tourism hotspots’ (Dublin’s Temple Bar district, the Cliffs of Moher, Galway’s Grafton Street, Killarney’s High Street, the Ring of Kerry). At Wilderness Ireland, we’ll take you off the beaten track to see Ireland behind-the-scenes where cows and sheep start to outnumber inhabitants.
