Pristine surfing beaches, quirky coastal towns, vast moors, historic castles and sweeping glens are what awaits in Counties Sligo and Donegal.
Kayaking in the sky – or so it seems! Splash in Sligo’s estuary to make friends with seals in Knocknarea nountains’s shadow.
The region is perfect for kayaking, as the lake, river and sea are all closely interconnected. Kayak on Lough Gill to explore abandoned islands (perhaps even the Lake Isle of Innisfree, immortalised by W.B. Yeats). On the other side of the colourful streets of Sligo town, kayak among seals in the Ballisadare estuary. If you’re feeling braver, head out into the Atlantic to discover Ireland from a new perspective.

My trip was one of which I will truly treasure the memories. It sparked a lot of curiosity and I expect to put in some time reading to fill in the gaps in my knowledge of Ireland, its natural and political history.
