Insider’s Ireland Video: The Aran Islands

    By Dawn Rainbolt, PR Manager
    More by Dawn

    Island Culture

Meet Gabriel Faherty, possibly the most famous resident of the Aran Islands. Gabriel is also the proud owner of a herd of goats whose milk makes some of the most delicious goat’s cheese you’ll ever taste. An intricate part of local island culture and gatekeeper of island heritage, Gabriel Faherty is also a fantastic storyteller.

Besides fabulous goats cheese and cheery residents, the Aran Islands also have some spectacular monuments like Dún Aonghasa fort, a semi0circular stone fort at the edge of a 300ft high cliff as old as 1100 BC. Cheerful pubs, quiet beaches and ocean vistas abound on these three vibrant islands along Ireland’s west coast.

Our video series, Insider’s Ireland, focuses on bringing Ireland’s hidden corners and local recommendations to you. In this second episode, island-hop over to the Aran Islands to meet Gabriel and his goats and learn more about the stunning wee islands he calls home.
