    Mini Bio

I am a keen Gaeilgeoir (Irish speaker) with a passion for the history and heritage of the Emerald Isle. I feel privileged to be in a position to showcase Ireland to those willing to experience it through adventure. Packing up the boat, bike or campervan has and always will give me happiness.

    Favourite Place to Play

After spending years wandering remote areas of the world trying to find the ideal hideaway, I’ve come to realise that the most beautiful place in the world has been on my doorstep this whole time. The lakes, mountains, shores and rivers of Connemara have everything an outdoor enthusiast could ever dream of exploring.

Not a lot of People Know This

I was so cold one time, I asked a Bedouin man on camelback to buy the socks he was wearing. They stank. I still have them.

For over ten years, I worked as an Outdoor Instructor in Ireland and New Zealand. A chance trip to Southern Africa in 2011 created an opportunity for me to lead personal development programmes as Head Guide with Irish charities in some of the most remote and amazing parts of the world over the next eight years.
I currently lead an adventure therapy programme for Ireland’s harshest critiques – teenagers.

It’s been my ambition for a long time now to travel to wild, remote and exciting parts of the world. I try to make at least one big trip each year. Some of these trips include kayaking around Ireland in 37 days, cycling through Mexico in 33 days or living in one of the most remote and poverty-stricken areas of Southern Africa for two years.

What Fellow Travellers Say About Pearse

As I have already mentioned Declan and Pearse made the trip( see previous comments). They are both very genuine, kind and clearly love what they do. I so appreciated the local knowledge about the history and culture of Ireland. That doesn't happen with other tours I have been on with guides that are flown in and have " sound bites". These 2 are the best guides I have had so far( and I have done 9 bike trips with a bunch of different companies). They are both authentic and complement each other so well. They make the trip work seamlessly. They are fun and were quite kind when I found a few of the hills a little intimidating. I was so interested to hear of the politics and sport. I know what Hurling is! It was great riding with them, meeting up at snack stops( did I mention Pearse's fresh cake and flowers??!!). I would be so excited to have either of these on a future trip. They set up the bikes perfectly( Im a bit of a bike princess) and helped my daughter with adjustments. I will be back and have told my friends about your company.
Only complaint- didn't get a chance to use my new raincoat. I guess I'll have to try another week .

    Thank you so much,

Please express my sincere gratitude to Pearce and Michael's for an exceptional trip.

I want to extend my heartfelt thanks for an incredible bike trip through the beautiful landscapes of northwest Ireland. This experience will remain vivid in my memory, not only for the stunning scenery, but also because of the outstanding guidance provided by Pearce and Michael.

Their deep knowledge of the region enriched every moment, illuminating the history, culture, and hidden wonders of the route. Both Pearce and Michael were unfailingly courteous, always going the extra mile to ensure everyone felt welcome and supported throughout the journey. Their helpfulness stood out each day, whether navigating winding country roads or offering advice and encouragement.

What truly made the trip exceptional was their remarkable ability to make adjustments on the fly, ensuring that every rider’s needs were met with patience and flexibility. This adaptability ensured that every challenge was met with a positive spirit, transforming obstacles into opportunities for adventure.

Thank you once again for an unforgettable experience!

As I said before Mark Brown and Pearse O’Tauthail set the bar very high. We have done many bicycle trips and no other guides compared. Their love of biking and their country shone through. They ere professionals every step of the way. A flat tire on the vehicle was dispensed with by Pearse without a big deal and handled easily as if there was nothing to it.

Pearse and Fergus led us around the Donegal route with dedication and good humour, having an encyclopaedic knowledge of not only our immediate surroundings but of Irish culture and history. They went above and beyond my expectations and I wish we'd had more opportunity to chat over a pint or two.

You could not ask for better guides and a better team than Pearse and Fergus. They were excellent. Their knowledge and history of the country and were top-notch. I would recommend them to anyone taking this trip. Their flexibility to tailor some parts of the trip in accordance with the group dynamics was the best. Your company has two excellent assets in Pearse and Fergus - as I am sure you realize.

Both guides were very keen on providing us the best Ireland experience. Very supportive. Very helpful would be e.g. either before dinner or after breakfast to have a "map meeting" where one of the guides go through the upcoming route e.g. explains it more, what are the challenges [e.g. upcoming punchy hills] and other specials concerning the route.
