Mini Bio

I grew up in Colorado, from where I would travel every year to visit the family farm in Waterford. Straight out of high school, I crossed the Atlantic for good and spent a number of years travelling by bicycle and by foot from Ireland across Europe as far as the Bosphorus Strait, which separates Europe and Asia. Having settled in West Cork, I now enjoy roaming the boggy hills of Cork & Kerry, rock climbing on sea cliffs in Clare, and paddling coastal inlets by kayak in Bantry Bay.

My experience studying folklore, traditional music and the Irish language, as well as the more-than-human world, strongly influences my relationship with the landscape. I love sharing the simple pleasures of stomping up a hill and enjoying local food in good company.

Favourite Place to Play

I love the Beara peninsula – from the temperate rainforests of Glengarriff to the windy tops of Sugarloaf and Hungry Hill with sweeping views over Bantry Bay.

Not a lot of People Know This

I once joined a travelling bicycle circus in Eastern Europe – I cycled thousands of kilometres with a full-sized piano accordion and juggling clubs on my bike. I can still juggle four clubs!
