    Mini Bio

Growing up in Sligo, I spent childhood summers exploring the beaches, lakes and landscapes of the west coast of Ireland, which gave me a love and appreciation for the outdoors that has never left me.

I studied Mechanical Engineering, then worked in the energy and emissions reduction industry for ten years in the UK before leaving the corporate world to fully pursue my passion for the outdoors and return to living by the coast and mountains.

I am happiest in, on, or around the water, whatever the weather! I love whitewater kayaking, dunking myself in the sea, attempting to surf, or just wandering on the beach with the sound of the waves crashing beside me. When not immersing myself in the outdoors or adventuring with Bridget the Van, you’ll probably find me cooking or learning how to keep all the vegetables in the polytunnels alive.

    Favourite Place to Play

The big bouncy rivers in the Scottish Glens.

I have been lucky enough to travel to some fantastic places for adventure in Europe and further afield over the years. Some of my favourite adventures have been hiking in the Amazon Jungle and the Andes in Peru, rafting in Indonesia and kayaking in Slovenia.

My most recent big adventure (and favourite adventure to date) was in 2022 when I climbed Kilimanjaro as part of an all-female expedition – it was terrific to meet so many brilliant women to share the experience with. The landscape was so different and beautiful every day – definitely not something I’ll ever forget!

I started whitewater kayaking when I lived in the UK in my 20s to get my water fix while living in a city, and I was instantly hooked! Since then I’ve spent many holidays exploring the rivers in Ireland, the UK and Europe. I love the adrenaline from going down a rapid (hopefully upright!), followed by the sense of calm and serenity when you paddle around a bend and are met with spectacular views, often only accessible by river.

Hiking the mountains and hills of Ireland and the UK has always been a favourite pastime of mine, be it on my own or with a group. I love getting friends and family out on hikes to share the places I love with them.

The coasts of Mayo and Sligo for the mountains, beaches and rugged landscape. I particularly love it in wild and stormy conditions, and I often go out just to watch the waves crashing on the cliffs on those days.
