Mini Bio

Growing up in Dublin, I spent weekends either camping around Ireland with the scouts or visiting family in rural Cavan and the town of New Ross, county Wexford. This gave me an appreciation for many flavours of Irish life and landscapes, and I developed a curiosity about the geography, history, and folklore of this island, as well as the beautiful language that ties it all together.

I studied Geography and German at Trinity College Dublin, spending as much time with the hillwalking and climbing clubs as in my lectures. Nowadays, you’ll find me travelling the length and breadth of the Emerald Island in my van, Millie. I’ll probably be sharing my passion for this place with other people, be it hillwalking, climbing, cycling, diving, paddling, surfing, orienteering, or scouting!

Favourite Place to Play

I used to say that the West Coast is the best coast. However, after moving to Tollymore Forest, Co. Down, I now say that anywhere the mountains sweep down to the sea is where I want to be!

Not a lot of People Know This

I once lived in Austria, where I bought an old Trek 8000 mountain bike. I loved it so much that I brought it home with me on many trains and finally a plane!
