      What Can You Expect out in the Field

      Wilderness Ireland is based on the west coast of Ireland in Co. Sligo. We offer a range of opportunities to work with us as a freelance guide, delivering exceptional travel experiences across the island. As we continue to grow, we are expanding the variety of trips we operate — from activity-focused hiking and biking trips to softer adventures that focus on culture, heritage and luxury travel — creating diverse opportunities for experienced guides.

      Guiding for Wilderness Ireland

      At Wilderness Ireland, our aim is to set a new standard for adventure and cultural travel. We are passionate about creating inspiring, sustainable experiences that connect our clients with the landscapes, history, and culture of Ireland.

      We work in partnership with a network of highly skilled freelance guides who lead our trips in the field. Our chosen guides play a key role in delivering exceptional client experiences, bringing their own expertise, style, passion, and local knowledge to each trip.

      When guiding with Wilderness Ireland, you will collaborate closely with our in-house team, who design and support each itinerary. We value open communication and welcome feedback from the guides we work with, helping us continually refine and improve our trips.

      The Role of a Wilderness Ireland Guide

      As a freelance guide working with Wilderness Ireland, you will lead small groups of clients throughout Ireland, sharing your knowledge and passion for the destination.

      You will:
      • Deliver trips designed by our in-house team, while bringing your own personality and guiding style
      • Introduce clients to Ireland’s landscapes, history, heritage, and culture
      • Bring a high level of customer service to each trip
      • Create meaningful connections between guests and the places they visit
      • Ensure a safe, professional, and engaging experience throughout each trip

      Our trips go beyond standard sightseeing — they are designed to immerse clients in the natural and cultural richness of Ireland. The guides we work with are central to bringing these experiences to life.

      We work with guides who demonstrate:

      • A deep expertise of Ireland’s natural environment and cultural heritage, with a rich knowledge of diverse topics such as folklore, history, traditions, natural landscapes, flora and fauna, and more.
      • Strong leadership, confidence, and communication skills
      • A professional, high-energy approach to guiding
      • A focus on safety while out in the field
      • A commitment to delivering exceptional client experiences
