    Wilderness Ireland's Assurance

While we hope that the worst of the pandemic is behind us, we understand that travel can still feel tricky. We want to reassure you therefore that we continue to be well-prepared, well-informed, and happily ready to give you a memorable and safe holiday.

Our operating procedures are aligned with the guidelines provided by the Government of Ireland, which means it’s simple to keep up to date with our rules and regulations. You can find the current guidelines here: Covid Public Health Guidelines – Ireland. It is important to note that guidance for Ireland may differ from where you live and other countries you may have travelled to, so please be sure to review these carefully in advance of travel. Note that these guidelines (and therefore our operating procedures) are subject to change so be sure to check back regularly, particularly directly in advance of your trip.

At present, our standard terms and conditions apply to all our trips as there are no restrictions on travel. However, in the event that this changes and our ability to operate trips is affected, we will be in touch to discuss your options. As always, we have a diligent and friendly team that is happy to answer any questions that you may have.

    The Covid 19 Safety Charter

We love Ireland and we love welcoming travellers to this part of the world to show you places that you wouldn’t normally see.

The Covid 19 Safety Charter is the industry standard that has been created by tourism authorities in Ireland to show that we, as a business, have followed the government and industry guidelines, have an updated risk assessment in place and have the processes in place to maintain cleanliness and aid social distancing. This charter also applies to hotels, restaurants and other tourism businesses to assure you, as a customer, that you will see the same high standards of Covid-19 awareness and hygiene practices wherever you travel in Ireland. Businesses in Northern Ireland operate under UK’s similar ‘Good to Go’ scheme.

Click the drop-downs below to reveal details of the measures we’ve put in place to make your trip feel all the more comfortable in the moments when you’re not out there in the wild places of Ireland.

    Your Trip with Wilderness Ireland

    Traveller Responsibility Read More

The safety of everyone on the trip is our top priority. If you do feel unwell with Covid symptoms at any point during the trip, we ask that you please let your guide or a member of the Wilderness team know as soon as possible. You will be asked to take an antigen test and follow current public health guidelines should the test return a positive result.

In line with Irish government guidelines, mask-wearing is no longer mandatory although some people continue to choose to wear a mask in public places. It is worth noting that mask-wearing is advised on public transport and in healthcare settings. We ask all travellers to be conscientious and courteous towards everyone on the trip, respecting personal space and individual decisions around mask-wearing.

There are no vaccine mandates in place in Ireland, as Ireland has one of the highest covid vaccine uptake rates in the world. There are no requirements to present proof of vaccination or recovery on entry into Ireland and there is no requirement to fill out any pre-arrival forms relating specifically to covid.

In addition, social distancing is not in place in public places, restaurants and shops although we ask travellers to be mindful of those who might wish to keep their distance from those around them and to follow individual premises guidelines around this.

    What We’re Doing Read More

While adhering to all Irish Government guidelines, we are also continuing to implement important covid preventative measures.

All our guides are trained on our new operating systems before leading a trip. This means that as well as ensuring the safety of you and your fellow travellers, they will be able to advise on any relevant procedures during the course of your holiday.

All of our equipment will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected before being re-issued. On trips, any equipment you are given will be yours throughout the trip and our guides will clean and disinfect equipment as required. Our vehicles are subject to enhanced cleaning, with hand sanitiser being readily available for passengers.

While each accommodation will have slightly different arrangements, it is important that we adhere to their guidelines. This is also applicable to restaurants and cafes. Our guides will do their best to inform you ahead of time if there is any significant procedure that you should be aware of prior to arrival.

    Insurance Read More

It is always important to have adequate travel insurance. We believe that peace of mind when travelling is paramount to enjoyment, and therefore actively encourage all our clients to ensure they have the correct insurance for their specific needs.

We are not able to advise on travel insurance policies and therefore ask that you contact your preferred insurance company directly. You should aim to have insurance that, in addition to standard medical and cancellation policies, has adequate cover should you contract covid in the run-up to or during your trip.

In addition, it is worth double-checking your policy’s stance on travel disruption, including delays and cancellations. The Association of British Insurers has a Q&A that is a useful tool, and while more relevant for travellers from the UK, still raises useful questions to put to any travel insurer.
