    Mini Bio

Born and raised in Belfast, my love for adventure began with BMX racing and watching BMX Bandits back in the day! I started racing road and mountain bikes at the age of 12, and since then, I’ve cycled and raced all over Ireland, England, Scotland, and Europe, embracing every challenge on two wheels. When I’m not cycling, you’ll find me hiking, climbing, or diving into the wild waters of Ireland, always seeking new ways to connect with nature.

As a Wilderness Ireland guide, I’m excited to share my passion for the outdoors and the beauty of this island with you.

    Favourite Place to Play

For cycling, it has to be the North Coast of Ireland. It offers spectacular scenery and views with never-ending beauty and hills. For hiking and climbing, the majestic Mourne Mountains offer breathtaking natural beauty, where you can truly be at one with nature.

Not a lot of People Know This

The main reason I love cycling and hiking is that I love going uphill. I love hills–the longer and steeper, the better!

While we were on a self guided tour, our Guide Mark was exceptional. He was there when we needed him, enmienda when we did not know we needed him. Mark prided excellent support and guidance without ever being intrusive in our plans a preferences. Mark provided local knowledge and great suggestions and we a very pleasant person to have around. I would give him the highest possible marks.

I liked the format of the Self-Guided trip a lot. We could go at our own pace, but then met up with our guide and other folks on the trip periodically for stops or meals throughout the day. Mark told us what to look out for each day, and where he would meet us along the way. He had snacks and water refills for us, took great photos, and gave us loads of valuable information.

Mark and David were amazing guides. Both very different people from different backgrounds, but they worked together seamlessly to look after us, and made our trip one we’ll never forget.

Please reference previous remarks but I will add some more. The routes were really great - loved Glenveigh - enjoyed they added an additional castle at the request of one of the guests. Enjoyed the Kilclooney Dolmen.
Another beautiful touch - as I pulled in after the big climb of Glengesh Pass David was there at the top playing his low whistle. Cant give enough thumbs up emojis for that.

Like I said. David and Mark made our experience a once in lifetime memory. full of unique and thoughtful care and hospitality. They MADE the trip. more than the beautiful surroundings and landscape. I will forever remember their absolute above and beyond approach to guiding our experience well after the images of the landscape and places we visited fade from memory.

David and Mark we a great complimentary partnership. Both brought different skills and experience that added to the overall experience.
We especially enjoyed David sharing his music and Mark his love of cycling and sport. We also we grateful that each shared there Ireland knowledge and personal experiences.
We learned it was the first time they has worked together but we would not have thought that if we did not know.

We were on a self guided trip supported by Mark Brown. Mark was brilliant - the bikes were ready every morning. He recommended coffee, lunch & evening meal stops. He was a brilliant guide to be supporting our trip. He delivered a fantastic service. We would travel with him again. Whilst the Garmins had the daily route distance - it would have been useful to have had access to the GPX routes once we had paid the full price to aid our preparation for the tour.

We thought Mark was an excellent guide. He provided cycle information, food recommendations, and provided help when one in our party was injured. Was always there or nearby to assist. He even took photos for us that were posted on a group chat.

Mark was superb . Nothing was to much trouble , his enthusiasm and pride were completely infectious . The effort he made to source special coffee and lunch spots to find super stop off points 10/10 . Great photography and we all appreciated the what’s app gallery and daily briefings . Finally very efficient always where he said he would be when he said he would be there and worked so hard to load and unload bikes and luggage to maximise R&R time for us . We enjoyed his company it was like having a 6th member of the group
