*Optional Upgrade: Cookery class
Feeling refreshed, join a local chef and specialist in a renowned Irish cookery school for a hands on lesson in baking the perfect loaf of Irish soda bread.
Early morning and sunrise is one of the most magical times in Ireland – its no wonder why the great ancient civilisations in Ireland aligned so many of the historic monuments with this time of day! Start the day with a fusion yoga session to gently awaken and invigorate both body and mind. After a delicious breakfast, you’re ready for a day out on the town! Head to the colourful seaside town of Kinsale, soak up the fascinating history of Charles Fort, work up an appetite and then get ready for another smorgasbord – an afternoon food tour of Kinsale, one Ireland’s foodie capitals.
The ancient pilgrimage site of Gougane Barra awaits you today, this area of Cork has old associations to St. Finbarr, and has long been held as a sacred place, on your walk today it’s not hard to see why. With its wild yet tranquil lake and tiny monastery at its centre, Gougane Barra could be the setting of a fairytale. Continue your connection to nature with a seaweed bath at a gorgeous spa and wellness centre. One of the west coast of Ireland’s best-kept secrets, few know of the amazing restorative health benefits that seaweed has for your skin.
Ireland has a long and fascinating past stretching back thousands of years. Head out into nature with your guide for a spiritual tour of the Beara Peninsula, where you will discover archaeological gems that will help you build a deeper connection with our spiritual past. Here, in the wilds of West Cork, alone with these ancient sacred sites, breathe in the peacefulness and tranquility you can only get when you’re standing at the edge of the world with only the wind and waves to break the silence. Turning our minds east – at least figuratively – visit the beautifully ornate Dzogchen Beara, a picturesque Buddhist Temple that will momentarily transport you to another culture. In this amazing location we will enjoy light meditation as the day draws to a close.
Start your day with an early morning mindfulness session before we head north into Killarney National Park. We’ll stretch our muscles with a gentle bike ride around the lush lowlands and tranquil lakes of the beautiful woodland of Killarney, Ireland’s first national park. On a backdrop of soaring peaks and herds of inquisitive red deer, we might have the time to visit some of the park’s historic castles, abbeys and manors.
*Optional Upgrade: Afternoon tea
Indulge yourself with afternoon tea and cakes – and prosecco!
In the morning, we’ll head to Inch Beach, one of Ireland’s prettiest stretches of sand, for a final morning yoga session. Following the dramatic Dingle coastline to Ireland’s westernmost point, we’ll take a boat to the Blasket Islands. These eerie islands were once home to a thriving – and literary – island community before harsh conditions forced them to move to the mainland. In an abandoned village inhabited only by seabirds, enjoy a poetry reading and talk of life on the islands in times gone by. Upon returning to the mainland, we may have time to stop by the heritage centre which provides more information on the people who once called this islands home, as well as the important writers and literary heritage that comes from The Great Blasket’s.
After a final stretch of the legs near your accommodation, your guide will take back to Limerick train station where you can start your onward journey.
