    Mini Bio

Living in Galway, I’ve always felt a deep connection to Ireland’s wild landscapes. With a background in fashion design and a lifelong love for the outdoors, I’m drawn to creativity and adventure, which naturally led me to a career in guiding.

I love sharing Ireland’s rich history, rugged beauty, and hidden gems, whether a remote mountain trail, an ancient ruin, or a windswept coastline. When I’m not guiding, you’ll find me hiking new trails, getting involved in conservation work, or seeking the best scenic viewpoints. I believe the best adventures are those that combine nature, storytelling, and a sense of discovery. I can’t wait to welcome you to Ireland’s incredible wilderness!

    Favourite Place to Play

The Burren is where I feel most at home, but there’s nothing like hiking through the wild landscape of Connemara.

    I’m an ardent fake swimmer.

I’m an active hill walker and environmental officer with my local walking club. I also volunteer with conservation groups like Burrenbeo and Mountain Meitheal, working on projects that preserve and protect our natural landscapes.

    Biggest Adventure Read More

I’ve always loved travelling and discovering new places, people, and cultures. I have explored much of Europe and spent three months in India. More recently, I hiked the volcanic hills of the Aeolian Islands, but the biggest adventure by far was trekking the highest points in Vietnam.

I have a strong knowledge of the Burren in Co. Clare, from its unique limestone landscape to its rich history and rare flora.

What Fellow Travellers Say About Mairead

There were 4 guests total on this trip. We all absolutely loved Mairead!!! As I said earlier, she was so kind, warm and caring. One of the travelers was into gardening so Mairead would always point out and describe plants/flowers as well as taking photos of plants/flowers. She also did a great job of taking photos of all of the travelers. Mairead, and the other guests, really made this trip fun and enjoyable.

Our guide was very experienced and thoughtful at all times about the entire group with respect to hiking, accommodations, meals and travel.

Mairead is an outstanding guide. She is so warm, funny, and good-hearted, and she made sure that each of us felt included. I so much enjoyed talking with her and listening to her stories and tour information. She made sure we had all that we needed, and no problem went un-addressed (there weren't many problems, of course). She is a gem!
