Erin was very helpful in creating an itinerary that was custom to our family. She followed up and modified as necessary. She was a pleasure to talk to.
Trip Comments
Wilderness Ireland and our guide, Calliam, made it so easy for us to enjoy the beauty of Ireland!
Accommodation and Food
The food was amazing and most of the accommodations were good/ satisfactory. I should have been more specific with level of hotel in Dublin.
Your Guide
Our guide, Calliam, is very experienced and game for anything. He was knowledgeable and we always felt like we were in the very best hands. He was a pleasure to hang out with too - which was great!
The Bottom Line
Trip of a lifetime! First time we’ve taken a trip like this with a guide. Would and will totally do it again with Wilderness Ireland!

I had a fantastic time in Connemara and Mayo with Wilderness Ireland. Everything ran smoothly and we were able to go on some epic hikes in mostly great weather ( always a bonus!). We had a great group of people who all got along well and our guide was wonderful. Would definitely book again!
Accommodation and Food
The B and B and hotels we stayed at were all great - clean, comfortable and sometimes quirky. Meals were excellent too - lots of fresh seafood!
Your Guide
Our guide Michelle was absolutely fantastic. Her passion for Ireland and Connemara really showed. She expertly chose the best options for our walks depending on the weather and group ability. The flexibility to change things up meant we got to experience a few bonus activities which we all very much appreciated. Michelle went out of her way to ensure that everyone in the group had a memorable trip.

Ciaran was excellent even went back to the van to get me some walking poles
He flawlessly changed the itinerary when we could not go out to the islands, which was the main reason we chose the trip
The Bottom Line
Disappointed that we could not go out to the islands the main reason we did the trip but really enjoyed the walks which we did instead.A good introduction to walking in Ireland we will go to Ireland again but probably on our own as we now know what to expect

The guide, Michelle, was awesome. She knew loads about the area and was able to suggest changes to the itinerary adapting to the weather. The group was small so we could easily discuss and agree on changes. I would have hated to do Croagh Patrick in a downpour. By adapting the agenda to the weather, we had clear weather for Croagh Patrick and amazing views. Michelle was also great at proving tips and encouragement when terrain was tricky or steep.

Trip Comments
Michelle Hughes, our guide, did everything that she could to ensure that our trip was an enjoyable one. She adapted well to the ever changing (and sometimes horrible) weather! On the long drives to the hills, Michelle also kept us informed and entertained with interesting stories of Irish history of the region.
Accommodation and Food
Food was excellent.
Hotels were comfortable. We enjoyed the quirkiness of the The Quay House in Clifden and the authenticity of the Maol Reihd in Tullycross. Unfortunately, we found the Westport Plaza to be excessively scented, i.e., too much perfumed.
Your Guide
Michelle had an amazing knowledge of the region. One could tell that she knew all of the trails like the back of her hand. She was professional and personable. In a nutshell, Michelle made the trip.
The Bottom Line
Excellent trip. Extremely positive experience.

Trip Comments
Our guides Warner and Andrew were fantastic. They went out of their way to make our trip an enjoyable experience. Their knowledge of the areas we visited was commendable. Our 2 nights on the Aran Islands was the highlight for me surrounded by history, the local craic and wonderful food enhanced the whole experience.
Accommodation and Food
The accommodation was excellent and the food recommendations from our guides first class.
Your Guide
Warner and Andrew were the reason our trip was so enjoyable. Their knowledge of the area and their bubbly personalities and wit made our adventure even more fun. Both of them had the ability to spin a good Irish yarn.
The Bottom Line
Although the weather was not really on our side it was a riding experience that exceeded my expectations. Beautiful countryside by day and loads of fun at night, all due to our wonderful guides Warner and Andrew. Thanks Wilderness Ireland.

Lovely country. Tom, our guide was pleasant and very informative. He added a special touch playing his guitar for us on several occasions. Lots of boat travel was a surprise, I had not read the itinerary, but well enjoyed. Second trip with the Wilderness group and both trips were great and worth the price.

Great accommodation and food.

WI staff were great with their prompt responses to my many questions, as well as passing along a request to our group leader before the trip began.
Trip Comments
I was particularly interested in in the flora, fauna, geology, archaeology, and culture. Our most excellent guides, Georgia, then later, Tom, were great at answering my questions and talking a little about all of the above. Georgia even gave me books/booklets to look at relating to most of the above. Georgia was particularly kind, helping me track down a couple of old friends of an Irish archaeologist friend in the US. He is thrilled that his old friends were found!
Accommodation and Food
For the cost of the trip, the accommodations and food were wonderful, and food plentiful. I wish I could have eaten more! I now dream of the delicious brown bread and seafood!
Your Guide
Georgia was terrific - one of the best of the many with whom I've traveled. Very knowledgeable on the many subjects about which I asked her. She often remembered things I'd previously asked her, and later pointed out to me some of those things, or clarified information. She had a nice, relaxed way about her and a good sense of humor. She also took the time to connect me with a couple of people in Doolin and on Inis Mor, about whom a good friend, an Irishman, in Colorado for many decades, wanted to know. He is 82 years old, and it is a blessing to him to have news from his old friends. Georgia did not take time from the others in the group, as they were occupied with other things. Tom was also excellent, especially having to jump in after several days. He was very accommodating to our group of women, who, by this time, had developed some differences.
The Bottom Line
Based on previous experiences with travel tours, I feel that you were absolutely right on with the grading of Green 2. In retrospect, I am surprised that the other three women did not choose to go on a hiking trip with more mileage and rugged terrain. That said, I found I was not quite up to all the walks because of past and ongoing health and fitness issues. Georgia and Tom were aware of this, and, I felt, kept a bit of an eye out for me, while not taking time away from the others. On two of the days they showed me maps and pointed me at alternate, easier routes I could take. An experienced hiker, I was quite comfortable with these, and enjoyed the walks. They were both excellent drivers, and kept us on time for everything, while fitting certain activities (meals and free time activities) to the group. All of your pre-trip literature, instructions, and advice, in addition to your well-organized and gorgeous website, were very complete and useful. My compliments to you for doing such a great job! I do hope to return next year, when I am more fit and have gotten some of the health issues behind me.

Pre-Trip Service
Our planning was easy after we were contacted by Louise, who gave us the information we needed. She promptly answered our questions. As a result, we brought the clothing and gear to make the hikes enjoyable, including the backpack rain covers.
Trip Comments
The hikes ranged from easy to moderately hard, in part because of the good weather. With more rain they could have been harder. The scenery along all trails was striking. The hikes had frequent pauses to point out specific features or history as mentioned above. Heaven was removing boots and taking a barefoot walk on the spongy, cool plant surfaces at Malin Head.

Georgia made frequent ‘amuse-bouche’ stops while traveling between locations. A notable one was the Doagh Famine Village, which provided an insight to life in Ireland during the famine, during the Troubles, and in more recent times. The host also provided a sample of poitín aka uisce beatha.

A major component of our trip enjoyment was our traveling companions Bob, Trisha and Ciersten (Gaelic spelling). We enjoyed an informative, imaginative and often humorous forum to discuss everything from our backgrounds to evil pillow cat faeries.
Accommodation and Food
The lodgings ranged from the unusual to sublime. Our favorite was the Glen House B&B. The most memorable stay was at the Carnaween House. All had wifi, some more reliable than others.
Your Guide
And we repeat:

Georgia our guide was prepared and knowledgable on a wide variety of subjects pertaining to the tour as well as Ireland in general. She provided context for the locations we visited and made it more enjoyable. Topics included geography, geology, Gaelic language, history, literature, music, film, food, drink, flora and fauna. We were also lucky to have Liam, new to this company, who was shadowing for 3 days.
The Bottom Line
Our Wilderness Ireland trip (Hiking - The Causeway Coastal Route & Donegal) was remarkable, approaching magical.
